Lisa Soffe and Bret Wojcik to be married
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Soffe and Eddie Modric of Wheaton announce the engagement of their daughter, Lisa M., to Bret Wojcik, son of Marty and Ahlai Wojcik of Lombard.
The bride-elect is a 2001 graduate of Wheaton North High School and is working toward a degree in elementary education at the University of Wisconsin Whitewater. She is employed as a teacher’s aide.
Her fiancé is a 1998 graduate of Glenbard East High School and a 2003 graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Platteville. He is employed as a PE teacher and head wrestling coach at Richmond Burton High School in Richmond.
A July 2011 wedding is planned in Genoa City, Wis.

Blaire Bestwina and David Gibson engaged
David and C.C. Bestwina of Lombard announce the engagement of their daughter, Blaire Joan, to David R. Gibson of Lombard.
The bride-elect is a graduate of College of DuPage and is employed at Brio.
Her fiancé is a graduate of Northern Illinois University and is owner and CEO of Computer & Telecommunications Systems.
An Oct. 2 wedding is planned with a Jamaican honeymoon to follow.

Pam Skokos and Sean Ryan married July 31
Pam Skokos, daughter of Pete and Anastasia Skokos of Lombard, and Sean Ryan, son of Don and Melody Ryan of Lombard, exchanged vows Saturday, July 31.
The bride is a 2002 graduate of Montini Catholic High School and a 2006 graduate of Purdue University. She is set to graduate from Loyola School of Law in May 2011.
The groom is a 1999 graduate of Glenbard East High School and a 2003 graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Natilee Harren and Michael Powell married
Natilee Omann Herren, daughter of Juletta Omann Harren and Lee C. Harren of Orono, Minn., and Michael George Powell, son of Sharon and Dennis Powell of Lombard, were married Thursday, July 8, at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, Minn.
Officiating was Emilee Harren Elbert, sister of the bride, who became a Universal Life minister for this event.
Ms. Harren, 27, will keep her name. She is a doctoral candidate in art history at the University California, Los Angeles. She is also a freelance art critic, and was from December 2009 to February 2010 the curator of an exhibition on the musical interests of artists at the Los Angeles gallery of the Fellows of Contemporary Art. In September, she is to become a Fulbright scholar at the University of Cologne, studying Fluxus, an avant garde art movement that began in the 1960s.
Mr. Powell, 33, is a 1995 graduate of Glenbard East High School and a 1999 graduate of the University of Illinois. He works as a cultural anthropologist in the Los Angeles office of Shook Kelley, a design agency. He studies consumers’ habits and how they respond to the retail environment. He also contributes article on cultural anthropology to journals.
The couple met at Rice University, from which the bride received a bachelor’s degree and the groom a doctorate in cultural anthropology.

Caroline Bober to marry Brian Sullivan
Leszek and Danuta Bober of South Elgin announce the engagement of their daughter, Caroline, to Brian Sullivan, son of Richard and Laura Sullivan of Lombard.
The bride-elect is a 2000 graduate of Glenbard West High School, a 2004 graduate of Western Illinois University and a 2008 graduate of National Louis University, with a master’s degree. She is employed at Holy Trinity School as a first-grade teacher.
Her fiancé is a 1997 graduate of Glenbard East High School and a 2008 graduate of Robert Morris College. He is employed with Collision Revision as a general manager.
An April 16, 2011 wedding is planned at St. Hyacinth Basilica in Chicago, followed by a reception at Venuti’s in Addison.

Angela Surleta to marry Daniel Ryan IV
Dennis and Susan Surleta of Lombard announce the engagement of their daughter, Angela, to Daniel Ryan IV, son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Ryan III of Brookfield, Wis.
The bride-elect is a 2000 graduate of Immaculate Conception High School in Elmhurst and a 2004 graduate of Benedictine University in Lisle, with a degree in political science. She is employed as an executive paralegal in Glen Ellyn.
Her fiancé is a 1997 graduate of Brookfield Central High School in Brookfield, and a 2001 graduate of Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis., with a degree in mechanical engineering. He is employed as a senior design engineer for Caterpillar in Aurora.
A Sept. 4 wedding is planned at Promontory Point in Chicago, followed by a reception at Orchestra Hall.
